6 Easy Ways To Incorporate Ginger Into Your Diet

In the spirit of honesty, I hate the taste of ginger. It literally causes a gag reflex. BUT I also understand how powerful it is and how beneficial it is to incorporate into my life…in whatever way I can stomach. Below are some fun ways I’ve incorporated it into meals that made the taste not only bearable, but barely noticeable…or at the very least quick. Here are 6 easy ways to incorporate ginger into your diet:

1. Ginger Tea

One of the simplest and most soothing ways to enjoy ginger is by brewing it into tea. You can make ginger tea by slicing fresh ginger root and steeping it in hot water for about 5-10 minutes. Try adding a squeeze of lemon and a bit of honey. It cuts the intensity of the ginger and adds extra flavor and sweetness. Or if it’s easier, you can just buy ginger tea (What I do most of the time).

2. Smoothies

You could toss a few slices of fresh ginger or ginger powder into a smoothie. Ginger pairs well with fruits like pineapple and mango. If you like the taste of ginger, it’ll add a spicy and refreshing twist to your smoothie. If not, add a flavor like banana or peanut butter to dull the taste.

3. Stir-Fries and Curries

You can opt for a more savory route and incorporate grated or minced ginger into your stir-fries, curries or soups. Ginger adds a subtle heat and depth to dishes, enhancing the overall taste profile. Simply sauté ginger along with the garlic and onions for the base for your favorite stir fry or hearty stew.

4. Salad Dressings

Salad dressings are also a good option to try adding ginger. Combine grated ginger with ingredients like olive oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey and and mustard for a zesty and tangy dressing. Drizzle it over your favorite salads or use it as a marinade for grilled vegetables, tofu or meat.

5. Baked Goods

Infuse your sweet treats with the warmth and spiciness of ginger by adding ground or freshly grated ginger to muffins, cookies, cakes or bread. Ginger pairs well with flavors like cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. I just use it as an excuse to make cinnamon rolls.

6. Ginger Shots

If you’re strong enough, kickstart your day with a potent ginger shot for a burst of energy and vitality. If you want to dilute the taste, blend fresh ginger with water or citrus fruits like lemon and orange. This will create a flavorful and concentrated shot packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. Ginger shots are a quick and efficient way to reap the health benefits of ginger and boost your immune system.

Bottom line, there are a ton of ways to get your ginger in so no excuses! Unless you really really really don’t want to lol. But if you can stomach it, try one of these ways to incorporate ginger into your diet. And read our post on 5 Ways Ginger Can Help Period Symptoms!
